I haven’t done a big, general Q&A on my blog in a while, and I thought now was a good time to do one. The last time I featured a Q&A section in a post was in September, when I wrote about how I’m finding sixth form, and answered a few of your questions about it! This time round, I’m answering all sorts of questions I was asked on Instagram (make sure you follow me on Instagram so you don’t miss out on all the fun behind the scenes content on my stories!) about school, shopping, beauty & my life in general.
What’s your favourite/least favourite fashion trend at the moment?
I had a couple of questions along these lines and had to think for quite a while about my answer, honestly! I think my least favourite fashion trend at the moment is those absolutely huge chunky trainers you see people wearing; I know some people like them and sometimes they can look great, but I definitely couldn’t pull them off & they just look really clunky in my opinion! In terms of what I like, I’ve been loving mom jeans at the moment! I bought some around October of last year – I never thought they’d suit me to be honest, and while I still think sometimes they probably don’t, I really like wearing them and they make a nice change from my usual skinny jeans.
Do you prefer online shopping or high street?
Everyone loves a day out shopping, but I’d say I much prefer online shopping. It’s a lot easier & usually they have all the sizes in the right things available online, and I find it really hard to find my size in shops. Shopping for jeans in store is a nightmare when you have long legs – all the longer lengths either don’t exist in shop or vanish from the shelves within minutes of them being there. Plus, sometimes the business of shopping is just annoying & it can be freeeezing – and I live relatively far away from any decent shops so it’s not the easiest place to shop. Online all the way!
What’s your favourite shop?
For me this changes with the season; in summer, I love Hollister and Urban Outfitters – they’re basically the only places I shop regularly in the summer. I’m very much a dress kind of gal & I adore the dresses in UO, and Hollister is my go to for beachy clothes. In winter, I buy like 90% of my stuff in Jack Wills, although I also buy things in UO then too, and ASOS (which is really just the caters to all needs SAVIOUR of shopping!)
If you could only live in one brand of clothing for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Probably Hollister – their clothes are so comfy & definitely cater to all seasons!
What’s your holy grail skincare product?
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – it’s incredible and if you don’t use it you’re missing out big time. Here’s my review of it!
Why did you start blogging?
I think I’ve answered this question a lot of times in q&a posts now, but sadly, the answer is really really boring. There’s no monumental, life changing reason why I started blogging other than the fact I was very very bored. Little 12 year old me (I know – my posts at 12 were very cringeworthy, I can assure you) was pretty much obsessed with YouTube (some of you may remember my Zoella days) and thought blogging was for me – turns out it was, and I really enjoy it!
What are your long term blogging plans?
One of my long term plans for blogging was going self hosted – I achieved that last summer, and it’s definitely something I want to sustain. One thing I aim for with my blog is to make some money from it, obviously it’s not why I blog but it would be great to have some sort of income from doing something I enjoy. By the end of this year I’d really like to have done a sponsored post & hopefully made some money from blogging! Really my goal is to just continue for as long as I can.
Have you ever made a YouTube video?
I was nine, it was embarrassing and was deleted within months of it going up. I think it had maybe fifteen views, all of which were me. I cringe to think about it!
Are you looking forward to anything?
This year I suppose learning to drive in the summer is the thing I’m looking forward to most – I can’t wait to be able to take myself places whenever I want & drive myself to school. Not having to suffer through an hour and a bit bus drive daily will be bliss!
Favourite blog posts to write?
I love blog posts where I’m working with brands, but I enjoy writing studying & productivity themed posts the most!
Anything surprising about A Levels? Are you enjoying them?
Nothing surprising in particular, perhaps that I actually have managed to get on with reading some stuff for English finally – who thought that day would ever come? And yes, I’m enjoying them as much as one can enjoy school!
Do you watch much YouTube? If so, what do you watch?
I’ve actually been thinking about doing a blog post on youtubers I watch who are so underrated, if that would interest anyone? Honestly though, I don’t watch as much YouTube as I once did. When I do watch it, it’s usually about studying (I really enjoy studytube videos, although I know some people have some bad opinions on them not being realistic enough, I find them very motivating) & lifestyle.
What universities are you considering?
In a dream world, I’d love to get into Exeter University. I’m considering Southampton, Bristol, Exeter & Durham although they’re very far fetched – I highly doubt I’d get the grades for any of those! I’d love to go to any of them really though, and haven’t actually thought about what I’ll do if I don’t get in there – I’m not sure I even want to go to a university which isn’t a Russel Group. Who knows, but I will definitely do some blog posts on it while I’m deciding!
What’s your favourite way to revise?
I’m very simple – I like typed, neat notes & reading it & testing myself. Also practice essay plans is so important for me now I do three essay subjects – I hope to have plans for every single possible essay by the time the exams come round (joking, but not really…)!
How did you pick your A Levels?
Based purely on what I enjoyed – it was a given that I’d do English Lit & always has been since I was about 9. It’s been my favourite subject since forever & I’m sure always will be. History was also always something I really enjoyed and definitely didn’t want to ditch at GCSE – there was a time when I considered doing biology instead of History, and A) what on earth was I thinking? A level Biology is like so hard & I can’t even do basic science in psychology. I would’ve been screwed, and B) I can’t actually imagine not doing history now – I know if I hadn’t chosen it I’d have been really sad to have left it. I also do Psychology, which is an entirely new one for me & definitely my least favourite of the three and the one I understand the least, but I do enjoy it to a certain extent & it pairs quite well with my other two subjects. Ideally, if my school had done a separate English language a level rather than Lang & lit combined, that’s what I would’ve chosen over psychology, but they didn’t so this is what I went for!
Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts?
At the moment my sporadic posting can account for my inspiration being virtually drained – I have this awful trait where if I have no inspiration, I just won’t post. Not the best for the blog but that’s just me! In terms of finding inspiration, Pinterest & Instagram stories are really my main sources – other bloggers inadvertently inspire me & Pinterest is always a place which motivates me and gets me thinking of things to write about.
What is your favourite makeup brand?
Too faced – I love all of their stuff!
How long do you see yourself blogging?
Hopefully for a long time – I don’t have any particular time stamp necessarily but I’d like to blog for a while & see my blog change with my style of writing etc. I enjoy reading back on old posts, and I’m sure that will never change, and so I will always want to blog.
What’s your go to everyday hairstyle?
99% of the time I wear my hair down & straight. It’s my natural hair & pretty easy to deal with so I just leave it as is. It’s really thin, so kinda looks crap in any other style!
There were a few more questions, but I think that’s quite a lot for one post! I may do a part two of this blog post in the future – who knows! Thank you for reading & thank you to all of you who asked questions over on my Instagram!
