I think it’s important to set goals in the new year – setting goals for your life generally, and also goals to do with your biggest projects throughout the year. I set copious amounts of goals for school, which is arguably my biggest ‘project’, in that it takes up the majority of my time, but I also set many goals for my blog. My blog is really my biggest hobby, I spend loads of my free time working on it; writing posts, tweaking the design, instagram, Twitter, taking pictures – it really never ends. That’s why it’s so important for me to set myself goals in relation to my blog. The way I see it, I’m only going to improve my blog if I know what I want from it, and goals are a way for me to do that.
So, as an extra post this week, I wanted to quickly share with you my goals for my blog. I do tend to share my monthly goals for my blog on twitter, but they’re not as definite as these goals & I don’t always have time to work towards them. Here’s January’s goals though, if you’re interested.
Goals for January:
💫1.2K followers on Instagram
💫1,500 views to my blog
💫2.5K on twitter
💫1,200 blog followers
💫one blog post a week on my blog
Let me know your goals below & we can help each other out!

Hopefully, giving you some insight into the goals I have for this year will let you know what to expect from my blog.
MY BLOGGING GOALS 2019
Get 20K+ views
2018 saw my blog surpass 10,000 views (I ended up just shy of 12,500 I believe), but I know that from September onwards, I wasn’t trying my hardest with my blog. Largely due to the obstacle of A Levels, but I definitely could’ve done better. This year I’d love to reach and hopefully (fingers crossed!) exceed 20,000 views. Obviously, views aren’t the be all and end all of blogging, but I want to get Love, Soph out there this year & really make it the best it can be – plus, it’s pretty gratifying to have people read what I write!
2000 followers on my blog
I find that when I’m consistently promoting my blog, my follower count tends to increase a lot too, which is lovely. I really want to grow my following this year, having more people reading my content and enjoying it always makes me happy! My following was growing really well until about summer of last year, but then (as I’m sure we all witnessed), I really lost my mojo with blogging & life got a bit taken over by school, and with it, I started getting less followers & engagement; I’m determined to not let that happen this year & grow a really nice community on my blog!
Start a newsletter & offer printables/freebies
This one is possibly my biggest, and most exciting goal of 2019! I’d love to produce a monthly newsletter for you guys, to come out at the start of each month, rounding up the previous month’s blog posts, and giving you some insight into my life. I just need to learn how to do that now, so if anyone has any tips, hit me up! It seems like a great option for making my blog more personal, and allowing those of you who follow me & are interested in seeing what I’m up to, some more behind the scenes type stuff & generally getting to know me more the chance to do so!
I’d also really like to include more freebies & printables on my blog – in my last blog post, a roundup of my goals for 2019 with more of a lifestyle approach, I shared a desktop wallpaper with you guys. It’s been lovely to see you using that, and it’s definitely something I’d like to do more of!
Turn Pinterest into a bigger traffic source
Everyone raves about Pinterest bringing in traffic to your blog, and while I do get a decent handful of views from Pinterest, I’d love to make it one of my main sources of traffic (right now, they’re Twitter & the WordPress reader). I love creating Pinterest graphics to go with each blog post, I suppose it’s just down to getting people to pin them & getting them seen on Pinterest – still figuring that one out! If you’d like to help out, go back to the start of this post & pin the graphic up there to your Pinterest!
Get to grips with SEO
I really need to up my game on the SEO front – I rarely think about whether or not my posts are optimised for google & SEO and what not when I’m writing them, and only occasionally will I head over to Yoast SEO & try get my blog posts to green. 2019, however, WILL be the year I get a grip & start trying to understand this more. Right now, my knowledge is pretty vague – I know there’s definitely something to do with keywords, but that’s about all. Oh! And broken links (of which you’ll find many on my blog – whoopsies! When I went self hosted I didn’t exactly get to fixing that problem very quickly, and nearly four years worth of broken links isn’t the quickest to fix). It’s something I’m working on though, and hopefully I’ll be able to go through my old posts this year & really get them all shiny & new – new links, revamp the content, new graphics. Get this blog looking good!
Comment on at least one other bloggers post every day
I’m trying to get very involved in the community this year, and so I’m hoping to comment on at least one blog every day. It’s not a huge task but sometimes I find myself neglecting reading other blogs & therefore don’t get around to commenting on them or showing love back to any bloggers who read my blog. I think it’s really important to do this & it’s probably my biggest goal. So far, so good – I’ve been on a real blogging binge & trying to leave comments as often as I can.
Improve my Instagram
Instagram is something I have a love hate relationship with; on the one hand, I think it’s a great platform for bloggers to share extra bits of their lives on, and I love seeing everybody’s gorgeous feeds and reading through their captions. Leaving comments is a great way to interact with people, and I feel like on the whole, it’s a good platform. However, there are certain things which annoy me about Instagram, which have put me off really throwing effort into growing my account on there. Firstly, the following/unfollowing game is ridiculous, and just gets on my nerves at this point, and secondly, I’m not sure how beneficial it is for my blog. Really, the only way I think instagram will ever work wonders for blog engagement (in the way that twitter does for me), is if I can get my hands on the swipe up feature on my stories! But, you know, I’m pretty far off 10,000 followers so that is a distant dream for now.
I do, however, really want to grow my instagram following. It’d be absolutely amazing to get to 2,000 by the end of this year, but I don’t really have a huge deal of hope for it if I’m honest. I’d also like to start using instagram stories as more of a platform to engage with my followers. One of my lovely blogging friends Liv from Olivia Grace is the BEST example of an amazing instagrammer who really uses stories well. Her story spams are always so good & entertaining for me & I genuinely look forward to watching them. I’d like to start doing more story spams, but I always feel like I sound a bit strange on camera. Guess I’m just going to have to get past that!
