I have missed out on a few of my 12 days of christmas blog posts, but let’s not let that get in the way of this very exciting post where I’ll collaborating with the lovely Abbie from Small Beauty to share my winter beauty essentials – Abbie is also going to be sharing her favourite winter beauty bits, and she’s an amazing blogger so I’d really recommend checking her out! I’ll be linking to her blog post at the end of this post.
A further exciting addition to this post is that the lovely team over at Mask Time have sent me their one year anniversary box and I’ll be featuring it in this post! I reviewed Mask Time back in August, in a post you can read here, and absolutely loved them; they’ve been as kind as to continue sending me out boxes of masks every month so I’m never low in stock! I thought I’d feature a few of their masks in this post as I really do use them every week & find they’re so helpful for my skin!
MY WINTER BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
Firstly, I’ll have a little chat with you about the Mask Time one year anniversary box for December. This came with four masks in (one of which I’ve already used, so I replaced it with the Banana Mask Pack in this picture!) which promised to make your skin sparkle & go ‘wow’! From the mask I’ve already used, I can say it definitely brightened up my skin and made my face feel super moisturised. I’d really recommend Mask Time for anyone who’s looking to have a bit of fun by testing out different masks every month, in a way that won’t break the bank. Having dry skin, sheet masks are such an essential for me, especially in winter as my skin gets a lot worse & they’re excellent for putting that bit more moisture into my skin.
Keeping your skin moisturised in winter is so important. Although I forget to do it quite often, usually out of laziness, when I do these are the two products I always gravitate towards. First up is my holy grail body moisturiser, this is the vaseline intensive care essential healing lotion, which I’ve been using for many many years now & it has not failed me once. It always leaves my skin super soft & hydrated, and I actually like the fact that it doesn’t have much of a scent; it doesn’t feel like an overpowering moisturiser, or something that’s a bit of a gimmick and won’t actually do much.
BEING BY SANCTUARY SPA
Secondly is the being by sanctuary spa salted caramel & macadamia body butter, which I use when I’m really in the mood for a pamper. This body butter has quite a thick, almost smoothie like texture to it, however it leaves my skin incredibly hydrated & not feeling sticky at all, which is something I really love in a moisturiser. What really gets me about this body butter though is the smell; it’s incredible! It smells so cosy, warm & inviting and literally fills my whole room when I put it on, which is an incentive enough in itself to wear it!
If you’ve been a long time reader of my blog, you might remember a blog post I did last year all about why I love coconut oil so much, and I still do! It’s one of my favourite ways to stay moisturised in winter & it’s definitely an amazing option if you’re on a budget, because the stuff lasts forever and I only bought mine in Lidl!
I paint my nails a lot more during December; it gets me feeling all festive & I think it makes all my outfits look a lot more finished off. My favourite shade at the moment (which has been in my top ten shades for ages, I featured it in this blogmas post last year!) is Picadilly Court by Nails Inc – it’s the gel one coat range, and I love this range so much because the polish is super glossy and has a really nice salon feel to it when you’re wearing it. When I finish mine off with a topcoat, it won’t chip for at least a week or so, which for me is excellent because I find most nail polish just chips off within a couple of days. I love this shade too; it’s a really nice deep purple-red tone, and it’s perfect for the festive season!
For me, the perfect festive lippy is always a red lip, and it’s one of my biggest winter beauty essentials ever! This year, my favourite is the Max Factor Lipfinity. This doesn’t actually have a shade name on the tube, but it’s a gorgeous red tone; it has a slightly glossy finish, but my favourite thing about it is the little bits of gold glitter and shimmer within the lipstick. It makes the finish on your lips look absolutely party perfect, and really adds that extra festive pizzazz that everyone is looking for in a lipstick!
My final winter beauty essential is the L’Oreal Smooth Sugars Nourish Scrub. I’ve been using this scrub since about September & it’s well overdue a review on my blog, which I’m planning for the new year so I won’t talk about it too much right now. It is my favourite face scrub I’ve ever tried though, and I use it a couple of times a week in order to keep my face as smooth as possible. It gets rid of dead skin, and it cleans my pores really well, but it’s gentle enough to not irritate my skin or dry it out too much. Plus, it smells like chocolate, which is definitely a huge perk of being able to rub it all over your face!
