Recently, I went shopping and was given a few free samples of the L’Oreal Smooth Sugar Scrubs to try out. I’ve tried both of the samples I was given now, and so I figured I’d head over to the blog and let you all know what I thought of them!
In total, I was given four samples, and they were really decently sized – I got two uses out of each packet, which I think is really good! By the way, I was shopping in Bath when I was given these, not sure if they’re handing them out all over the U.K. but keep your eyes peeled, because you really need to try these out!
The first sample is the smooth sugars glow scrub, which has grapeseed oil in it & claims to improve the radiance of your skin and polish it. I also tried out the nourish scrub; this one has cocoa butter in it, and softens and smooths your skin.
For me, the glow scrub was more harsh on my skin than the nourish scrub, however not to the extent that I found it irritated my skin. I’ve got pretty dry skin, and it can be a little sensitive so I was a bit concerned about trying these, but neither of them actually left me with anything to complain about in terms of how they reacted with my skin, which is just great!
Also, a quick note on the packaging of these samples – I LOVED it! I’m so happy about the gold/copper coloured packets – they’re going to prove for some very pretty shots on instagram!
THE NOURISH SCRUB:
So, starting off with what I thought about the nourish scrub. Firstly, the scrub smells great. It really is like rubbing a lovely chocolate mask all over your face, and I don’t know about you, but I LOVE chocolate, so I wasn’t complaining! The sugars in this mask aren’t too abrasive – it’s nice and gentle (I’d say this is the scrub to go for if you have sensitive skin!) but still leaves your skin feeling like something has actually been done. You can use it on your face and lips, which makes it very versatile and definitely leaves your whole face feeling very nourished! It scrubbed away any dead skin I had left over, and afterwards my face felt incredibly soft and very moisturised. I don’t usually expect my face to feel moisturised after I’ve used a face scrub, but I think because of the cocoa butter in this one, it injects a little more moisture into your face at the same time, which makes it a really great scrub for drier skin! I really enjoyed using this scrub, and out of the two, it was probably my favourite and one I will definitely be purchasing after I’ve finished my last sample! I can see it becoming a very firm staple in my skincare routine.
THE GLOW SCRUB:
Out of the two scrubs, this was my least favourite, but I still did really like it! For me, the grapeseed scent wasn’t my favourite; there wasn’t anything wrong with it in particular, it just wasn’t really up my street and felt a little overpowering for a face scrub. In terms of the consistency of the scrub, the sugars felt a little harsher on my skin than the nourish scrub. It left my skin feeling very well polished, but a little tight, however it definitely felt more glowy! The scrub seemed to get deeper into my pores and really clean them out, so it felt a lot more fresh once I was done. I probably would purchase this scrub, but I know I wouldn’t use it as often as the nourish scrub – I feel that if I used it more than once a week, my skin would hate me for it and probably get drier than it is already. That said, I can see this scrub being perfect for oilier skin types.
Have you ever tried any of the L’Oréal Smooth Sugars Scrubs? I definitely would love to try more!
