With this heatwave we’re having in the U.K. at the moment, I’m always looking for a light and breezy outfit to wear. I don’t know about you, but where I live it’s reaching to temperatures of 30 degrees and beyond nearly every day, and it’s absolutely boiling considering we’re not exactly built for heat in the U.K! If anything, I’d say I’m a bit sick of the heat now and I’m just looking forward to autumn, but I won’t be a typical moaner; you’re here to read about what I’m wearing this summer, not why I’m hating summer
So, my go to outfit at the moment is this lovely red dress from Urban Outfitters. It hits me just in the middle of the shins, and it has a slit up one thigh. The off the shoulder design is really flattering, and I love the material as it’s really light and breezy; definitely a good one for staying cool. I also really like the sleeves on this dress and the way they fit – they’re frilly at the bottoms and I think it adds to the overall floaty, slightly boho look to the dress. I got this dress last year, so it isn’t in stock on the website anymore, however this dress (also from Urban Outfitters) is nearly identical to it (I adore the button details on this dress)! At the moment, I really have a thing for dresses and rompers/playsuits; they’re incredibly easy to wear because you don’t face the ‘does my top go with my bottoms?’ dilemma, and if you want to stay cool in summer, it’s the way to go.
Apologies for the fact that the photos are from behind – can’t exactly say I was happy with the others but I still wanted to share this outfit with you!
I paired this outfit with my leather sandals from next, they’re super comfy and really discreet little shoes to wear, but they finish off the look for me & I really like them. Usually, I would also have my sunglasses perched on my head to deal with my hair, and probably be carrying my little leather Jack Wills bag (which very conveniently matches my sandals) but I wasn’t today because these pictures are very much taken in my garden. Who ever said I wasn’t a highly professional blogger?
Jewellery wise, I’ve recently been wearing this beautiful necklace from Statement Made Jewellery. This was sent out to me a few weeks ago now, and I think it’s a really pretty necklace. I love the charms, and the fact that one of them has an ‘s’ engraved into it for ‘sophie’ – that is a really lovely touch. Sadly, I’m much more of a silver person than a gold person, I find gold always looks a bit garish on me (although suits other people amazingly, I can never understand why it just seems to look a bit odd on me!) however this is such a pretty necklace & I have been pairing it with this outfit a lot.
The necklace came inside this really beautiful pouch, and it has a very pretty flower charm on it too. It’s a nice length, and can be easily adjusted to hit your chest at a certain point. The only downside for me is that it’s gold, but otherwise it’s an amazing quality necklace!
So that’s all for my favourite OOTD this summer; quick and easy is what I’m about and this dress definitely hits all those boxes!
