I used to be a Garnier Micellar Water gal through and through, but ever since I received the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for Christmas, I can quite safely say that I’ve been converted. Don’t get me wrong, I use micellar water on occasion, but I find myself reaching for it less and less now I’ve discovered what can only be described as the most useful skincare product I’ve ever owned.
I specifically asked for Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish for Christmas as I’d been wanting to try it for ages, and I actually ended up getting the starter kit with the cleanser and two muslin cloths, which comes in the most beautiful little pouch. Not that packaging is everything, but it really is something and this packaging is lush; the pale blue theme gives it such a spa-like, luxurious feel and I always feel as though I’m really treating myself when I’m using it. It smells so amazing, it’s very subtle and the scent is super gentle. If you’ve got sensitive skin then this is definitely the product for you!
So, I use this every single evening to remove my makeup and not only does it always remove every single bit of makeup from my face (that’s right, mascara and all – even though I have to use a little bit more on my eyes if I’m wearing a tough mascara, or if it’s waterproof) but it makes my skin so soft. After I’ve used cleanse & polish, my skin always feels really moisturised, which is amazing considering that I have very dry skin at the moment (and always really, but chilly wintry weather only worsens it – I can’t wait until spring and my less dry skin). My eyelids often get really dry from makeup removers and such likes, however I’ve found that when I use this they’re significantly less dry, not completely (if anyone knows how to improve this or suffers with a similar problem then please leave me a comment with any tips!) but it definitely helps.
Not only is it really moisturising, smells beautiful, has amazing packaging and takes off all of your makeup, but it is SO easy to use! It gets rid of everything really quickly, which is perfect for when you need to nip to bed ASAP but don’t want to leave yourself with that tight skin makeup wipe rushed feeling, because we all know that’s the worst. It makes even the speediest of makeup removals feel like a bit of a treat for your skin. You just rub the cleanser all over your eyes and face, and then using the muslin cloths soaked in hot water you just wipe all your makeup from your face and it literally melts off. It may be the nicest makeup removal experience (can that even be a thing!?) ever.
After having used this whenever I’ve worn makeup for over two months now, I can see why everyone has been raving about it for years and why it is such a staple in many people’s skincare routines. For £16.00 for the starter kit and £14.00 for the cleanser alone, I will definitely be repurchasing this once mine has run out; while it may be a little pricier than the average cleanser, I think it is really reasonable for the amazing effect it has on my skin and how well it removes makeup.
