The end of January is finally here… I can’t be the only person that has thought this month has dragged on and on and on, it’s seemed never ending and as a month filled with exams, stress and illness (personally), I’m really happy it’s over! The closer we get to February, the more it’ll feel like spring; I’m truly sick of winter so I can’t wait for the warmer weather!
Anyway, like many bloggers I’m going to be doing a January favourites to see the month out; I know these posts are a bit repetitive, but I think they’re a fun read at the end of the month and I do have lots of really exciting things to share with you! I can’t promise I’ll be any more consistent with them in 2018 than I was in 2017, but anyway, here are the things I’ve been loving this January!
This month has been filled with LOADS of new beauty products, as I received loads for Christmas and so I’ve been testing them all this month. I loved so many but I felt I should narrow it down to what has become my three essentials for this month so I could properly share with you the things I’ve really been loving!
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
I used to be a true micellar water devotee, and while I haven’t deviated away from it a whole lot, I have found a new product to remove my makeup which I think works better than micellar water! The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is a hot cloth cleanser which makes removing your makeup at the end of the day a complete DREAM. My skin seems to get even more dry than usual in the winter months, and a regular face wash with micellar water just wasn’t cutting it anymore; cue this absolute gem! Every evening I actually look forward to taking off my makeup (a bold statement to make, I know) because this cleanser is honestly so relaxing, and the hot muslin cloth removes everything; even waterproof mascara comes off easily! Even when I’m not wearing makeup – which is quite regularly because I’ve been super lazy this month with getting up to do it, those extra fifteen minutes in bed are basically an essential – It’s a beautifully moisturising face wash and has helped my skin feel way less dry!
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
I definitely don’t wear foundation on a daily basis (as I said above, it’s a miracle if I even turn up at school with my makeup done!), I’m much more of a ‘slap on some concealer and go’ kind of girl. However, this month I’ve been wearing more and more foundation, especially on weekends, and this one has suited me perfectly! I’ve found it to be really lightweight and hydrating, whilst still having a decent amount of coverage, and it has yellow tones to it which match my pale skin great; most foundations are too orange and tend to look okay ish on my face, which is covered in freckles, but really bad when compared to my neck. This one doesn’t do that, and it doesn’t make my freckles look all weird. It’s hard to explain, but this foundation has soon become one of my everyday staples!
If you know me, you’ll know I have very long hair which only seems to be getting longer (it’s actually starting to annoy me a little so I’m going for a slight trim in February) and that means tangles, and loads of them. My hair constantly seemed to be knotty and in general just looking a bit like a birds nest, until this amazing brush came along from my wonderful secret santa! I use this at least three times a day and my hair is never knotty after I’ve used it, it’s such a convenient size and I honestly love it so much!
One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M McManus
I’ve been trying to read a lot more in January, and my favourite book I read was One of us is lying by Karen M McManus. I’m actually doing a review on this shortly, so I don’t want to give too much away but just know that, in my eyes, this book is the PERFECT murder mystery novel. The ending really surprised me and was done really well, I think everyone will enjoy this! If you want to keep up with what I’m reading throughout February, then you should follow me on Goodreads where I update what I’m reading regularly!
I rarely include apps on my favourites, but in reality I use my phone all of the time, and that’s not just to keep up with social media. Over January, I’ve become a little obsessed with the app Pixel Art, which is essentially colour by numbers but on your phone! I’ve been using it to help me relax after a stressful day or as a break from revision, and I think anyone can use this and enjoy it; I know my brother loves it as he is who introduced me to it! There are tonnes of pictures to colour; some are premium but that’s only a small percentage. There are loads of amazing free designs. I’ve been really loving using this app and I can see myself continuing throughout February!
Since I’ve gone back to school this month, stationary has become a priority for me (as you can probably see by my stationary wishlist post, I’m lusting after a lot of things!) and there are a couple of bits I’ve been really loving!
Mildliners Cool Pack
These are my new favourite highlighters, and they’re beautiful in pictures and making my notes look so pretty, which in turn motivates me to revise a little more. I mean to be honest, revision has been on some sort of downward spiral, however these are possibly the best highlighters ever so we can pretend I’m revising more.
Pentel Energel Pen 0.7 Nib
This is a great gel pen that doesn’t smudge when you highlight it. It’s really nice to hold and makes my notes look perfect.
That’s the end of a very rambly favourites post! I hope you enjoyed it and liked reading about all the things I’ve been loving this month. Let me know what your favourites were this month?
