I love painting my nails, and while I’m not very good at it, the Christmas period always gets me in the mood for experimenting with my nails and what colours I use. That said, I do have a select bunch of favourites that I thought I’d share with you; they do have somewhat of a running theme as you’ll probably notice as you read this!
I’m going to talk about my two favourite shimmery nail polishes first. I really love wearing a hint of glitter on my nails during the Christmas period, it always makes any outfit look instantly more exciting and glam. I’ve never got on well with chunkier glitter polishes, so I prefer ones with really subtle shimmers in them as they sit better on my nails. That’s where these two come in! The first one is a beautiful rose gold shade, called Kreme De La Kreme from the King Kylie collection that Sinful Colours did. I love this shade, because the glitter is really bright and very much there, but it doesn’t feel like a glittery nail polish! The application is sometimes a touch gloopy, but that is easily rectified by whacking this into the fridge about half an hour before you apply it. It’s pretty glossy whilst still having that shimmery look to it which I really love! The second shimmery nail polish is the Rimmel London I Heart Lasting Finish in shade 239 – Your Majesty. This one is the perfect silver colour, and I think that silver is definitely a shade you need for christmas! It makes any basic outfit look nice and glitzy and something a bit more exciting. This one applies amazingly, and lasts for ages as I’ve used it a lot now and it isn’t anywhere near to running out! Sometimes it can be a bit thin in its application, so you’ve got to apply a couple of coats for it to be truly opaque, but I don’t really mind that!
The next two shades I’m going to talk about are my beloved reds! Red shades are so perfect for Christmas; it’s such a bright, bold festive colour that compliments so many outfits, and I definitely have my favourite shades after having tried many. Both of these are quite similar colours, but definitely very different to each other. The first is the Avon True Colour Perfect Reds in the shade Cherry Jubilee; this is a very bright cherry red with a super glossy finish, and the brush is quite wide so perfect for doing your nails quickly if you’re in a rush. This is a bold red I’d say, the perfect colour for christmas parties! The next polish is the Jessica Custom Nail Colour in the shade Merlot, which is a beautiful deep red. This one has such an opaque application and is really nice and glossy, plus it lasts for a good long time!
The last two nail polishes are some of my absolute favourites EVER. The first is the Nails Inc Gel One Coat in Piccadilly Court and it is a beautiful deep plum colour. It’s really glossy and so easy to apply, the formula isn’t too thick or thin so one coat is perfect! This is probably my favourite nail polish as it’s much easier to wear for everyday than the other bolder shades, plus it carries you from autumn into winter perfectly! The second nail polish is another one by Avon, it’s the Stardust one in the shade Radiant Rose. This is a finely milled glitter polish which isn’t too rough on your nails, and it’s going to last for ages and sit really nicely; it’s a little difficult to take off but other than this it’s stunning. It’s a more pink toned red which I find really pretty but still super festive.
These are swatches of all of the colours: a lot of the reds look very similar here but they aren’t actually!
Have you ever used any of these polishes? Which one is your favourite? What nail polish shades do you love through December? Let me know in the comments! I really hope you enjoyed this post and liked seeing what my favourite nail polishes were this Christmas!
