Keeping My Lips Hydrated This Winter With Lypsyl | Mirror Compact Review

I have quite dry skin which doesn’t always react very well as the cold weather comes into play.  As we’ve entered November, I’ve noticed my skin becoming increasingly dry and the weather only getting colder – my lips are not far behind.  However, I think I have discovered the solution for dry lips this winter, and what makes it better is that it’s absolutely gorgeous!

When Lypsyl offered to send me out a couple of samples from their new Mirror Compact range, which I had seen floating about instagram, I jumped at the opportunity!  They arrived last Friday night and I couldn’t wait to review them for you all, I’m totally in love!  Thank you so much to Lypsyl for sending me these out, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using them the past week.

I got sent the original scent, and the luxurious vanilla one.  I can’t decide which is my favourite; original is the classic lypsyl scent we all know and love (does anyone remember back in like 2008 when lypsyl did those amazing and stupidly strong scented cherry or strawberry lip balms – everyone had one of those in my class, they were amazing!) and is probably the most discreet, but the luxurious vanilla really does feel like a treat for your lips.  I haven’t been able to decide, but my mum now has the original one and is loving using it!

As for the formula, it’s amazing. It seems more intensely moisturising than stick form lip balms, and feels very lightweight on your lips.  If I wear this overnight, I will always wake up with extremely soft lips.  I use this throughout the day constantly and have found it is making my lips free from dryness and they’re never chapped, even in the cold weather we’re having in the UK at the moment!

My favourite part though has got to be the packaging!  It makes these lip balms perfect to throw in your bag and leave, because they have a mirror, meaning you’ll never make the awful mistake of accidentally getting lip balm all of your face (I’m guilty!)  I especially love the dark, almost navy blue colour of the packaging with the contrasting coloured lid, I think it’s a really unique design.

The packaging has that soft touch feel to it, which makes these lip balms feel so luxury.  The lid closes really nice and smoothly, I have no worries that it might pop off in my bag and all sorts of bag dirt will ruin my lip balm; it’s very secure.  Lypsyl have really worked on the details in this new mirror compact too, around the edge of the lid it says the scent of the lipbalm, and then ‘love your lips’ as you can see in the image below.

I really love these lip balms.  They’re definitely one of my favourite products I’ve tried this month.  They’re priced at £4.99 each and available in Superdrug or on Lypsyls website.  At current, I believe only the original scent and luxurious vanilla are out in Superdrug, but on Lypsyls website you can also get two new scents: Zingy Mandarin and Fresh Orange Blossom, both of which sound so nice and I can’t wait to get my hands on!

For £4.99, you get a really good deal of product and the packaging alone is worth that much!  I think these new mirror compacts are amazing, and such high quality.  The formula is really moisturising and doesn’t leave you with a greasy feeling.  Overall, I’d really recommend them for this winter!  Will you be trying out these lip balms?
