As you all know, I really love autumn! It’s just so cosy and I really love to be cosy. Now that I’m on my half term break from school, which started on Wednesday 18th (quite early, but I’m not complaining!), I figured I’ve got some time for some extra blog posts and I’ve decided on doing the Autumn tag. I’ve seen this floating around for years now, and never managed to source an official set of questions as I’ve noticed everyones vary somewhat. So, I’ve basically compiled a list of any that I could find on google from all over the place, and I’m going to answer them for you all.
What signifies the start of autumn for you?
Honestly, as soon as my August birthday is done, I am more than ready for autumn! What really signifies the start of it though for me is smelling everyone with their wood burning stoves on, which I find happens almost every night as I’m walking home from school. When there are leaves on the floor and the air in the morning is really crisp, that’s when I know autumn has begun.
What is your favourite Fall scent?
Anything which has cinnamon in it. Something that is spicy, because that always helps to get me in the mood for Christmas too!
What is your favourite Autumn colour?
I love mustards and burgundy, but also cream/oatmeal coloured knits!
What is your favourite Fall drink?
I’m not big on hot drinks to be honest, but I am partial to the odd hot chocolate. My favourite hot chocolate is the dark forest hot chocolate, which tastes like a dark forest gateaux! It also has cream, cherry sauce and a cherry on top; it’s lush.
What TV show, new or old are you looking forward to this Fall?
Well, as we all know from this post, Riverdale has come back and it made me very excited! My thursday evenings are now filled with Riverdale sessions, and I couldn’t be happier. Another TV show I’m looking forward to is the second season of The Crown on Netflix which is coming out in November!
What is your favorite Fall fashion trend?
Really cosy jumpers. I have a huge jumper and I love wearing it because it’s so warm. Wearing jumpers is my favourite thing, and I love that I can do it in Autumn so often because the weather is perfect for it!
What is your favourite frugal Autumn activity?
As anyone who knows me will know, I’m not big on going outside and much prefer the comforts of my own home, however I do love an autumn walk, hunting for conkers and acorns and pinecones, taking pictures of all the colourful leaves and just being cosy in the cold is lovely!
Are you a bigger fan of Thanksgiving or Halloween?
In the UK, we don’t celebrate thanksgiving but I do love Halloween. I’ve always remembered it as very special since I’ve been a little girl; the old street I used to live on was always so festive! Everyone used to decorate their houses for the trick or treaters, and I always loved getting dressed up and wearing spooky makeup. Now I’m 15, i don’t go trick or treating anymore (mind you, I would if I didn’t think that little kids would find it scary having me out there!!) but I still love carving pumpkins and handing out sweets!
How close do you sit to the fire before you get too hot?
Honestly, I would climb inside our fire if I could! I’m permanently cold, so whenever the fire is on (it is now, and I’m about a metre away on the sofa and lovely and toasty) you can always find me pretty close by!
Do you make hot chocolate from scratch or from the packet?
I usually use packet hot chocolate (Cadbury is, and always will be the best) but I’ll almost always dress it up with cream on top and marshmallows if we’ve got any!
Do you make hot chocolate with milk or water?
Um, milk? I don’t understand people who make it with water: I was forced to warm myself up with watery hot chocolate one chilly morning on DofE and it was pretty rank. I’ll always use milk, and sometimes if I’m feeling really fat, I’ll pour in some double cream too: it makes for the loveliest, creamiest hot chocolate EVER!
Do you enjoy feeling the cold air, or do you wrap up warm?
I love the fact that it is cold in autumn, but I like to protect myself from it at all costs. I’m constantly wrapped up in millions of layers whenever I exit the house, but somehow I still manage to find myself pretty chilly! I do love the crisp air in the morning though when I’m walking to school, it really wakes me up!
Do you go pumpkin picking?
I usually buy my pumpkins at the supermarket and I’ve never been pumpkin picking, but I would really love to!
Cold rain or dense fog?
England’s weather is very unpredictable so we never know what we’re going to get (cough cough, Ophelia and your red sun that made everyone think they were going to die for a brief moment) but I love both. Cold rain is not something I’d opt to venture out in, but I really love sitting inside and listening to rain on the windows, but dense fog is always super spooky and cool.
How good are you at pumpkin carving?
I’d like to say I’m pretty skilled. With the help of a stencil, I’ve been able to create a few really cool designs on pumpkins!
Favourite autumn candle?
Has to be Yankee Candles Cosy By The Fire. It’s really nice and spicy and one of my favourite, warm scents.
That’s the end of all my questions I’ve found! I’m not going to tag anyone, but for those of you who are reading, if you do want to do this tag then you totally should! Leave me a link to your posts in the comments!
