Urban Veda Natural Skincare | Soothing Facial Oil Review

Hello, I think I am in love.

Not only that, but I think the problem of cold weather dry skin has just been solved.  And this makes me VERY excited, because dry skin is a pain.

A couple of weeks ago, Urban Veda invited me to a press launch but sadly I was in school so couldn’t make it and as sad as that was, it was largely improved when they offered to send me one of their new facial oils for review! Obviously I said I’d love to try it, and filled in the questionnaire to figure out my skin type so they could send me the right oil.  The link to the questionarre is here, by the way, and I think it’s really useful to determine what you should be buying (I got the Pitta dosha skin type).

So, I was sent out the amazing Soothing Facial oil which is 100% natural, designed for sensitive skin and skin that falls into the Pitta Dosha.  This oil includes avocado oil, shatavari and organic seabuckthorn, all of which really help to nourish and hydrate your skin.  It also includes sandalwood, which I think has the most relaxing scent ever.  Urban Veda use ancient Ayurvedic properties in their skin care to truly nourish the skin.  It retails for £29.99, and there are three other facial oils each with different properties and suited to different types of skin, for example the Vata Dosha which has a radiance facial oil.  You’ll be sure to find whatever you need for your skin with these oils.  Urban Veda is also vegan friendly and against animal testing, which is always great to discover brands like this.

As you can see, the oil is dispensed via a pipette in the bottle, which allows for a nice controlled application that ensures you don’t use too much.  The bottle is really high quality and made of glass, and the orange label is really beautiful and super fitting to this time of year.

I really love how this feels.  It’s stupidly hydrating, which I love and locks in moisture like nothing I’ve ever tried before; my Mum really loves it too!  It is quite a heavy oil so I use it at night rather than in the morning as I don’t suspect it will sit too well under makeup, however it isn’t greasy at all.  I love using heavier moisture products, but they often leave my skin feeling greasy and clogged up, which I really hate, but Urban Veda have really managed to avoid that with this facial oil.

The scent is quite discrete yet very relaxing, and I’ve found it to help de-stress me as I’m going to sleep because you can definitely smell it on the face.  It isn’t an in your face scent, which I like as I’m not big on scented skin care as I can often find it all quite overpowering.  It’s a warm and somewhat tropical scent, but it definitely doesn’t remind me of summer.  It also hasn’t irritated my skin at all, and I’ve tried it every night for a week now, which is super impressive!

My only problem would be that the pipette, while it works fine, seems a touch flimsy, however that isn’t too much of an issue as I can’t see it breaking in the near future.

Overall, this is such an amazing product, especially for those of us with drier skin in the winter time.  You can buy it here for £29.99, which is quite pricey however I do think it is very much worth it as I reckon this improves the quality of dry skin tenfold.
